BRIEF HISTORY

The school started as a Directorate of Remedial Studies (Department of Pre-NCE), mainly to assist students with entry deficiencies to qualify under School of Technical and Vocational Education with Alh. Muntari Ado as the Director about 1993. Thereafter, it metamorphosed into School of Science Education with Mall. Dalhatu S. Abubakar as the first Dean in 1999 running full NCE programmes in six departments with twelve combinations. Subsequently, Mr A. O. Ukpene (2002-2005), Elder M. A. Olayiwola (2005-2009), Mr J. E. Eze (2009-2013), Alh. G. D. Mahadi (2013-2017) were respectively Deans. In 2016 the Department of Physical and Health Education was introduced to run NCE PHE (Double Major). The reform of the structure of Colleges of education that took place same year renamed the  School of Secondary Education (Sciences). In 2017 C. I. Madu was made the Dean. Currently the school runs full NCE Programmes in thirteen (13) combinations in addition to Degree progamme in four subjects which was introduced in 2018 in affiliation with Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi.
